A Day of Service – Community Crisis Center

Today, the LVA office team spent the morning volunteering at the Community Crisis Center, Inc. (CCC) in Reisterstown, MD. Founded in 1982, CCC is a nonprofit 501(3)c human service organization dedicated to the prevention of homelessness, supporting the Reisterstown, Owings Mills and Glyndon areas. CCC relies heavily on donations of food items, personal hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, etc.

CCC is always looking for volunteers to help with their clothing collection, which began about two years ago. We spent most of the morning in the “clothing closet” sorting through thousands of donations. Clothing that is in good condition is organized and hung for members of the community to pick up, and clothing that is damaged is packed and taken to a center where it will be shipped all over the world for repurposing and recycling.

We had the pleasure of organizing and packing over 2,000 lbs of clothing! CCC services roughly 300 community members every month and about 25% of this population is elderly. For more information or to make a donation, please visit
